  1. Jefferson County Commissioner’s Proclamation for Worldwide Elder Abuse Awareness Day

    June 15, 2021, 8:00 AM - 8:30 AM

June 15, 2021 is Worldwide Elder Abuse Awareness Day. Elder abuse involves issues such as physical abuse, sexual abuse, financial exploitation, undue influence, neglect, and abandonment. Unfortunately, these crimes fly under the radar and seem to be increasing each year. Jefferson County has the largest population of older adults in Colorado with 99,000 adults aged 65-plus. In the US at least 10% of adults 65 or more will experience some form of elder abuse in a given year. Worldwide Elder Abuse Awareness Day is meant to remind all of us of this despicable crime against older adults and make every personal attempt to reduce the incidence.
