The VA has several types of claims a Veteran or eligible family member may apply for. This may be a claim for an injury sustained in service, a condition a Veteran has now due to service (such as from exposure to toxins), enrollment into VA health care, assistance with burial after a Veteran passes, application for aid and attendance for those who need assistance with activities of daily living, a monthly pension for those Veterans who are low income, education, life insurance, and Colorado State benefits.

Contact your county Veteran service office. Each county in Colorado has a service officer who is trained and ready to answer your questions and assist you with the paperwork. For a complete list go to: vets.colorado.gov
No. Each Veteran Service office is funded by the county so there is never a fee for the advice or assistance with VA paperwork.
Currently we may take appointments by phone, in-person and on-line though WebEx or Microsoft Teams.
It is helpful if you have the Veteran's: full name, branch of service, dates of service, birthday, social security number (as this will be come the claim number for any/all claims) and mailing address and phone number. A Veteran’s DD214/discharge paper is helpful as well. Also, have a list of questions and concerns.

Not until the appeal is complete. This is because if a person changes POA during an appeal, it goes to the back of the line and delays the appeal decision considerably.
