Learning about Healthy Relationships

This website is a great resource for identifying that may help youth determine the differences between healthy and unhealthy relationships in their lives. The website discusses healthy characteristics of a relationship such as mutual respect, honesty, trust, support, good communication, separate identities, and equity. The website also provides warning signs that a relationship may be in trouble.

Ask yourself, does my partner:

  • Looking for signs:
    • Partner get angry when I don't drop everything for him or her?
    • My partner criticizes the way I look or dress, and say I'll never be able to find anyone else who would date me?
    • Does my partner keep me from seeing friends or from talking to other guys or girls?
    • Does my partner want me to quit an activity, even though I love it?
    • Has my partner ever raised a hand when angry, like he or she is about to hit me?
    • Has my partner try to force me to go further sexually than I want to?
