Jefferson County Community Budget Forums in April and May
As part of our continued community outreach on the Jefferson County budget, we are hosting Community Budget Forums in April and May.
The meetings will be in-person, 90-minute sessions in which attendees can get more information on our funding challenges and have small-group discussions on problems and possible solutions. These forums also provide an excellent opportunity for the commissioners to listen to questions, feedback, and input.
Large cuts were already made as part of the 2020 budget, and beginning in 2023, the county is facing up to an additional $20 million in cuts in the General Fund. Without support from our voters for additional funding, these cuts will reduce county programs and services that will have real impacts on our community. With more tough decisions ahead, we want to be sure that the community understands the factors involved and how these pieces fit together to shape the county’s financial reality. It’s critical that we hear from our community – on their needs and priorities and what programs and services matter most to them.
You can find more details on the Funding Challenges page of the Jefferson County website about these budget challenges, see all locations and dates of the forums and register to attend the one that best fits your schedule.
