What is it?

Employer Talent Development Funds are available for local organizations who want to train current employees. Funded by the federal Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act and awarded through Jefferson County Business & Workforce Center, the grants are required to be used for training to retain a skilled workforce or avert layoffs.

Who is it for?

Jefferson County Business & Workforce Center will award a total of approximately $200,000 in Employer Talent Development Grants to local businesses. Priority is given to in-demand industries, such as information technology and cyber security, manufacturing, health care, and hospitality and tourism – as well as to companies whose training leads to expansion of duties for employees.

How does it work?

Reimbursement funding will be made available to businesses in Jefferson, Gilpin, and Clear Creek counties to provide training to upskill current employees. The Employer Talent Development Program (ETDP) is focused on staff training that is work-based, virtual, and/or classroom training that increases the competitiveness of the employee and the employer. Once the training has been completed and validated, Jefferson County Business & Workforce will reimburse the approved costs.
Options for training include a variety of work-based, virtual, or classroom training for current employees that will increase the competitiveness of both employees and the business. Employers are able to choose the training that will best meet the needs of their company and their employees. Past examples of training include Six Sigma, value stream mapping, lean manufacturing, AC/DC electricity, multi-industry systems technician (MIST) programming, total productive maintenance (TPM), advanced programmable logic controllers (PLCs), customized ISO, rapid cycle product innovation, electrical schematics, motors and controls, advanced hydraulic, business soft skills training, including focus on communication, teamwork, conflict resolution, strategic planning, resiliency training, critical thinking, and problem solving.
