Changes to Front Circle of Jefferson County Administration and Courts Facility

To increase safety at the Jefferson County Administration and Courts Facility, the front roundabout will permanently be closed to vehicle traffic beginning on July 26. Construction for this project will begin in late July and is currently scheduled to be completed by mid-September. There was an incident in 2019 in which a vehicle lost control, crossed the front walkway, and ran into the benches. There were no pedestrian injuries with that incident, however we want to ensure something like that does not happen in the future.

The existing parking spaces in the circle will be moved to areas within the parking structures. There will now be covered accessible spaces in the lower-level of the courtside garage and van accessible spaces added to the upper-level of the administration side of the facility. Please see the diagram for more detail. Changes will also be made to the drop-box area on the north side of the Administration and Courts Facility. The drop boxes for ballots and tax payments will still be available to the public in the same proximity, just further from the building and closer to Jefferson County Parkway.

The construction and relocation of parking may impact some. However, because many services have moved online, many people will be able to save a trip. Visit the Online Services page on our website to find information about services that can be accessed online.
