Vaccines in Jefferson County

The launch and rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine in Jefferson County has been a time of great hope for our community after 10 months of hardship during this pandemic. However, we also realize this has been a time filled with many questions for our population. While we wish we could vaccinate everyone in a more timely manner, quantities of the COVID-19 vaccine remain extremely limited in our county, and because of the challenges involved with vaccinating an entire population, we know that efforts will not be uniform from county to county or system to system. Demand is outpacing supply.
 
The vaccination process has, and will continue to, require all parts of our health and medical system – public health, hospitals, primary care providers and more – to work together with the resources we have to ensure that those who most need it receive the vaccine in as timely a manner as possible.
 
At JCPH, we are not currently offering the COVID-19 vaccine for the general public or individuals over 70 years old, as our department and all the local public health departments across the state have been asked to focus our efforts on the highest risk healthcare workers in 1A, as well as the moderate risk healthcare workers and first responders in 1B. All other providers, such as hospitals, health systems, pharmacies and safety net clinics, will be focusing on vaccinating persons 70 years of age and older.
 
To get more information about the vaccine:

• If you are 70 or older and looking for information on how to get the COVID-19 vaccine, visit CDPHE’s website to find the most updated information on providers who are currently offering the vaccine.
  • Select Safeway and King Soopers pharmacies will begin to vaccinate Jefferson County residents who are 70 years of age and older next week. Due to limited COVID vaccine availability, there may be a 2-6 week wait to get an appointment. Registration links by site are in development, please continue to check www.jeffco.us/covid-vaccine for these as they become available. Please do not call individual Safeway or King Soopers stores.
• If you are a health and medical provider, please complete a survey so we can add you to the network to receive important health alerts.
• If you are a member of the general public looking for important public health emergency information, including updates about the COVID-19 vaccine, please sign up for “Jeffco COVID-19 Alerts” at https://www.jeffco.us/list.aspx.

Talk with Your Teen About Boundaries

Setting and adjusting boundaries is an ongoing process throughout life for everyone. For teens, it's especially important to have clear boundaries, because adolescence is a time of great change, and youth with clear boundaries are happier and safer. 

Talk to your teen about their current boundaries, whether those are curfews, privileges, etc. Have an open, back-and-forth conversation with them about their wants and needs - decisions are more likely to stick that way.

CommUNITY Campaign

Jefferson County Human Services, Jefferson County Public Health and Jefferson County Public Affairs have collaborated with community partners including Benefits in Action, BGOLDN, Calvary Church Golden, Community Table, Evergreen Christian Outreach, Hunger Free Colorado, Integrated Family Community Services, Jeffco Eats, Joy’s Kitchen, Lakewood Connects, Mountain Resource Center, The Action Center, West Metro Chamber of Commerce and others to launch the CommUNITY campaign to bring together available community-wide resource information under one easy to access hub to help connect our community to support that best fits their needs.
