Vaccines in Jefferson County

As many of you know, the COVID-19 vaccine has made its way into Colorado and Jefferson County. We have been talking about this moment since the start of the pandemic, and we are excited and hopeful about what it means for response and recovery.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) has collaborated closely with Jefferson County Public Health (JCPH) and other local public health agencies across the state to prepare health care facilities to receive the vaccine. These health care facilities are currently hard at work distributing the vaccine for the first phase of distribution — frontline health care workers. Delivery of the COVID-19 vaccine will happen in three phases, as quantities are limited, and it takes time for enough vaccine to be produced to vaccinate everyone. You can visit the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s (CDPHE)  COVID-19 vaccine webpage.

On December 17, JCPH is hosting a telephone townhall to answer community questions around the vaccine and vaccine distribution process. For more information on how to join, please visit https://www.jeffco.us/4039/Community-Conversations.

Until a vaccine is widely available and used by our community, we should continue to use complimentary public health practices, which layered together help keep us healthy. We need to keep wearing our masks, maintaining social distancing, frequently washing our hands, and staying home as much as we can. We know that we all are ready to go back to normal, and to protect our community through this stretch of COVID-19, we must continue to lessen the spread.

Together,

Dr. Margaret Huffman
