Systemic Racism Explained

Below, please find the link to a very informative video that was part of the conversation had last week with Jeffco Public Schools.  The video is a short 5 minute video to help us understand how systemic racism is still prevalent in our society today.  To ensure we grasp the full message of what this video has to offer, please watch the video all the way to the end.

Join us for our weekly virtual meet up tomorrow, Tuesday, June 30th at 4:30 pm, we will meet up on WebEx through Rosa's Room.  This is not mandatory, just a way for us to say hi and see you! If you are interested, have the time, and want to connect!  You can call in or use your video - whichever works best for you. Just click on the link below.  This week, we will be talking about last week's discussion with Jeffco School in case anyone who wanted to be there missed it.  We would love to hear your thoughts, how you are processing current events, and ask questions with the JPP community.  We also going to be including how to talk to your children about race. We hope you can tune in!

Next week: Our conversation will be focused on the behavioral change method called FLIP IT.
FLIP IT® is a strategy that offers a simple, kind, strength-based, commonsense and effective four step process to address children's day to day challenging behavior This is best used with children ages 3-8 years old.  Join us!  Here is a short introduction to the process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSZ2ieeA2CE

JPP Book Club Survey

JPP wanted to put together a group of people interested in learning more, from a more personal perspective, about how racism in the US has effected them.  As such, 4 books have been identified around the topic.  Please click on the link to learn  more about these books and what days and times work for you to meet.  We would love for anyone and everyone interested in learning more about this topic to participate.  Once a book, day, and time have been identified we will send out a copy to everyone interested and begin!  Thank you in advance for taking 2 minutes to complete the survey below.

Don't forget to VOTE!

In JPP, we firmly believe in family voice.  One of the best ways to ensure your voice is being heard is to get your ballots in.  Local elections are, often times, the most important and the most ignored times to speak up and ensure you are getting the representation you want and deserve!  On the ballot this round is 1 Senate seat, 1 State Rep seat for the Board of Education, and a few more seats that need to be filled.  It's a short vote, so do it today!  June 30th at 7pm is the deadline to get your ballot in.  Check out the Jeffco Website for locations, registration and any other questions.
