Summer time

As summer heats up and kids are out of school, the virus seems to still be an impending threat.  Remember to keep you and your families safe, but also have some fun and get creative.  Staying at home, or keeping a safe distance outside, does not mean there is no fun to be had.  Quiet the opposite!  Some camping areas, outdoor recreation areas, and bike trails are all open for public use and are great options to get out and get disconnected from technology while spending time with the whole family.  Be sure to check the local restrictions and register for a camping slot ahead of time if you are venturing out for the night.  What fun ideas are you coming up with in your families to ensure this is still a memorable summer for you and the kids?  Post your ideas on the JPP Families Facebook page and help spread ideas to our community.

Here is the website for Colorado Parts & Wildlife:

Check them out to ensure the places you want to go are open and accepting visitors for the day or overnight.  They keep their site up to date so you have the latest information on when areas around Colorado will be opening.

Tax Day in CO has been extended

Due to the coronavirus pandemic the IRS has extended the deadline for filing your 2019 tax return from April 15th to July 15, 2020. If you owe 2019 taxes, the deadline for making payments has also been extended to July 15, 2020.

Here are some important considerations:

  • If you think you are going to get money back when you file you should still file your return as soon as possible so that the IRS can process your return and send your refund.
  • Your state income tax filing deadline may also be extended. Check with your state’s department of revenue for up to date information.
  • The IRS urges anyone with a tax filing obligation who has not yet filed a tax return for 2018 or 2019 to file as soon as they can to receive an economic impact payment. Taxpayers should include direct deposit banking information on the return. Learn more about economic impact payments.

Be careful of scams. The IRS does not initiate contact with taxpayers by email, text messages or social media channels to request personal or financial information. See also: How to know it’s really the IRS calling or knocking on your door.

For more information on the extension of the filing deadline see the IRS FAQs.

If you or others experience a problem with a financial product or service you can submit a complaint with the CFPB.
