Dear Business and Community Partners,

You still have time to submit your Jefferson County grant application!  If you are a small business located in unincorporated Jefferson County or a nonprofit in Jefferson County, you could be eligible to apply for grant funds to help your business through this economic emergency.

County Passes Temporary Outdoor Seating Regulations


The Jefferson County Board of County Commissioners adopted  temporary outdoor seating regulations for eating and drinking establishments in unincorporated Jefferson County. These temporary regulations are necessary to quickly address the changing regulatory environment as a result of the public health orders being issued surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. Below are highlights from the order.  For complete information, please see the full copy of the temporary regulations as passed by the Jefferson County Board of County Commissioners.

Under these temporary regulations, a retail establishment offering food, beverages, or alcoholic beverages for on-premises consumption can create a temporary outdoor seating area to expand seating capacity  to operate in an outdoor setting adjacent to their business.

Hours of Operation
Outdoor seating areas opened under these temporary regulations must close by:
10 p.m. on Sundays thru Thursdays; and
11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays

Allowed Uses of the Temporary Outdoor Seating Area
Outdoor seating areas established under these temporary regulations can only be used for sit-down consumption of food or beverages or customer pick-up and carry-out of food and beverages.
Prohibited Uses of the Temporary Outdoor Seating Area
Temporary outdoor seating cannot be used for activities that would promote congregating, involve shared equipment, or amplify sound, including but not limited to:
• Live music
• Music over speakers
• Video monitors to display movies, sports, television shows, etc.
• Loudspeaker call systems
• Outdoor games
• Standing areas, except a waiting area for customers that follows social distancing         guidelines is permitted.
• Generators
• Pets, except as provided in the Americans with Disabilities Act

These regulations will be valid until midnight on Monday, September 7, 2020, unless extended by the Jefferson County Board of County Commissioners. All improvements installed under this program must be removed no later than midnight on September 14, 2020.

On an average day, 14 kids in Colorado enter the foster care system.There are currently 5,000 kids in the foster care system and 400 available for adoption. Foster families fill a critical need in the lives of foster children and your support can make a difference!

Jefferson County CARES Act Emergency Grant Program

Provides Relief to Small Businesses and Nonprofits


JEFFERSON COUNTY, COLORADO – Small businesses in unincorporated Jefferson County and nonprofit organizations throughout Jefferson County seeking financial relief from the impacts of COVID-19 can apply online for a CARES Act Emergency Grant from the county. The funds are intended to provide a financial bridge until businesses and nonprofits can return to normal operations, any recipients will be required to prove the funds were spent to offset the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Tuesday, May 19th, the Jefferson County Board of County Commissioners authorized an emergency grant program, funded through the CARES Act, to support small businesses in unincorporated Jefferson County and nonprofit organizations located in Jefferson County and serving Jeffco residents. Businesses located in incorporated areas of Jefferson County should contact their municipalities to determine their eligibility for grants provided through the cities.

More information about the Emergency Grant Program and the formal application are located on the CARES Act Emergency Grant Program page on the Jefferson County website https://www.jeffco.us/4057/CARES-Act-Emergency-Grant-Funding. To be considered, grant applications must be submitted by June 9th. Once the submission period has closed, all applications will be evaluated and funding recommendations provided to the Board of County Commissioners for consideration. Individual grant amounts will depend upon the number of applicants, availability of funds, and demonstrated need.
Nonprofits and small businesses throughout Jefferson County have sought to meet the sudden and emergency needs of our community through this COVID-19 crisis. Continued support for them will ensure that services are provided to support the health and well-being of our community.
