Update on the COVID-19 PandemicAs Jefferson County continues to aggressively respond to the COVID-19 outbreak in our community, we remind residents that the best way to protect yourself and your family is to follow the Colorado Stay-at-Home Order — stay home and away from others. If we all follow this Order, we can flatten the curve and save lives. There are many resources to support you during this time: - Visit our Community Resources page for a listing of local resources for a variety of needs, including food, financial support, health access, housing and more.
- Mile High United Way 2-1-1 Colorado is a confidential and multilingual service connecting people to vital resources across the state and is the COVID-19 resource and referral hub for information and resources statewide. You can call, text, live chat or search the 2-1-1 database to get help.
- Visit www.jeffco.us/coronavirus for information in English and Spanish about COVID-19, a dashboard with case information, guidance for businesses and organizations, details on the Colorado Stay-at-Home Order and more.
- While Jeffco offices are closed, some essential public health services are still open. Check out this page for closure information.
We will get through this together. Please know JCPH, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Management, Jefferson County leadership and many, many others are working very hard to protect our community so we can all recover as soon as possible. Stay healthy, Jeffco!
Sincerely, Mark B. Johnson, MD, MPH Executive Director Jefferson County Public Health

Talk with Your Teen about AlcoholAdults often feel that a little alcohol is harmless for teens. However, Jefferson County teens report "drinking to get drunk," which can lead to risks like violence, alcohol poisoning, other drug use and risky sexual behavior. Talk to your teens about alcohol. Ask them if their peers are drinking and what they think about it. See what their concerns are about alcohol, and tell them what your worries are. The best way to show your teen you care? Be there. Have a talk with your teen. Learn more at www.twelvetalks.com.

Tips for Talking to Teens about COVID-19As a parent or guardian, it can be hard to know how to talk with teens about COVID-19, particularly when we are anxious and don’t feel as though we have all of the information ourselves. Nevertheless, engaging with our teens in dialogue is important for everyone’s well-being. Be sure to remind them that we're all in this together and even though it may be some time before the pandemic is over, it will resolve, and life will get back to normal. Here are tips to start the conversation.
