(Golden, CO – October 17, 2019) Austin Jeffrey Boutain, DOB: 10-16-93, appeared today in the Jefferson County District Court where he was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the murder of 63-year-old Mitchell Ingle in Golden in 2017.
On October 31, 2017 Golden police were dispatched to the Clear Creek RV Park on a welfare check. They found Mitchell Ingle deceased in his RV. They also found that Mr. Ingle’s vehicle and some of his property were missing.
The investigation led to arrest warrants being issued for Austin Boutain, and his wife, Kathleen Boutain, DOB: 3-17-94, in the death of Mitchell Ingle. Both were arrested in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 31, 2017.
Austin Boutain was extradited to Colorado from Utah after he was convicted in the murder of a college student that took place while our arrest warrant was active. He arrived at the Jefferson County jail in July. On September 20, 2019 Boutain pled guilty to First Degree Murder – After Deliberation; Aggravated Robbery; and four violent crime counts. He was sentenced to life in prison for First Degree Murder and 32 years in prison for Aggravated Robbery. The sentences will be served concurrently.
Kathleen Boutain has been charged with 20 counts in the death of Mr. Ingle. She has been returned to Colorado and is being held without bond at the Jefferson County jail. Her preliminary hearing is set for November 14 at 8:30 in Division 1.
The filing of criminal charges is merely a formal accusation that an individual has committed a crime(s). A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. See RPC 3.6
