Did you know that October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month? Under the overarching theme of “Own IT. Secure IT. Protect IT.”, the 16th annual National Cybersecurity Awareness Month is focused on encouraging personal accountability and proactive behavior in security best practices, and digital privacy. This October we want to remind everyone that the internet is a shared resource and responsibility – we are all digital citizens and must take steps to secure ourselves at home, on the job, and on the go.
Jefferson County is partnering with City of Golden, City of Wheat Ridge, City of Westminster and City of Lakewood to bring cyber awareness and education to our residents. During the month of October we will be holding cyber awareness seminars at the Jefferson County Libraries that are free and open to the public. In these seminars we will address online safety challenges, provide tips on how to secure your personal information and how to maintain your digital privacy. We will discuss the topics of safety when sharing information online, privacy settings, mobile device security, phishing, online shopping, and others. The seminar is available the following times and locations:
Friday, October 4 @ 10 am - Edgewater Library (registration required)
Monday, October 7 @ 11am - Columbine Library
Wednesday, October 16 @ 6:30pm - Standley Lake Library
