Kile Joshua Chaca, DOB: 12-29-97, has been charged in a shooting that occurred at a Walmart in Lakewood, and resulted in serious bodily injury to 33-year-old man. Mr. Chaca has been charged with Attempted Murder (F2); First Degree Assault (F3); and four violent crime counts.
According to the arrest affidavit, on August 25, a Lakewood Police Department patrol agent was working on patrol at the Walmart at 440 Wadsworth when he heard gunshots. He followed the sound of the shots and found an adult male lying on the ground, with what appeared to be gunshot wounds. He was transported to the hospital.
According to the arrest affidavit, Mr. Chaca and the victim had been engaged in a verbal altercation prior to the shooting. Following the gunshots, Mr. Chaca left the parking lot. The investigation led to the identification of Mr. Chaca and he was arrested on August 28.
Charges were filed on September 5. Mr. Chaca’s preliminary hearing has been set for September 24 at 2:00. He is being held at the Jefferson County jail on $500,000 bond.
The filing of a criminal charge is merely a formal accusation that an individual has committed a crime(s). A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. See Colo. RPC 3.6
