(Golden, CO – August 9, 2019) A 72-year-old Longmont man has been sentenced to prison for exposing himself to nine female victims in unincorporated Jefferson County. Fred Merrill Shattuck, DOB: 11-9-48, was sentenced to 12 years in prison on August 6, 2019. This was his fifth felony conviction and his10th indecent exposure conviction, dating back to 1995.
In December, 2017 and January, 2018 the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office took multiple complaints from teenagers, mostly 14 and 15 year old girls, regarding Mr. Shattuck exposing himself to them at restaurants. There were four incidents which took place at two locations near Chatfield High School, the Einstein Bros. bagel shop on S. Simms Street and the Subway on West Coalmine Avenue.
At the sentencing hearing, the prosecutor told the judge that Mr. Shattuck admitted that he went in to these restaurants knowing that was going to expose to someone.
Shattuck pled guilty on May 29, 2019 to four counts of Indecent Exposure – Expose Genitals – 3rd/subsequent, each a class six felony. He was sentenced to three years in prison on each of the four counts, to run consecutive.
“This is deviant behavior, and it was very traumatic for Shattuck’s victims,” said DA Pete Weir, “The best way to protect our community is a lengthy prison sentence.”
