[ARCHIVED] Jeffco Board of Commissioners Authorizes Public Vote on Surplus TABOR Funds

County News

On Tuesday, July 23, the Board of County Commissioners voted 3-0 to authorize a public vote on whether the county can keep taxes, grants and all other revenue that it collects in excess of limits instituted from the Taxpayer Bill of Rights (TABOR) and other applicable state statutes. For 2020, the county identified a budget shortfall of approximately $16.1 million, and the ballot issue will allow voters to decide whether the county can keep up to $16.1 million in 2020, and additional excess revenue between 2021 and 2027, which would otherwise be refunded to property owners under TABOR. The measure will appear on the ballots of Jeffco voters in the November 2019 election.

Check back here - the full resolution that was passed by the Board of County Commissioners will be available after next week’s hearing.
