First Judicial District Attorney Pete Weir announced that Austin Jeffrey Boutain, DOB: 10-16-93, has been returned to Colorado to face charges in the death of 63-year-old Mitchell Ingle in Golden in 2017. Boutain is expected to appear in court in the next few days to be advised of the 19 counts filed by the District Attorney’s Office, including two counts of First Degree Murder, three counts of Aggravated Robbery, and Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft.
Boutain was extradited from Utah and arrived at the Jefferson County jail on July 17.
On October 31, 2017 Golden police were dispatched to the Clear Creek RV Park on a welfare check. According to the arrest affidavit, they found Mitchell Ingle deceased in his RV. They also found that Mr. Ingle’s vehicle and some of his property was missing.
Mr. Ingle died on October 27, 2017.
The investigation led to arrest warrants being issued for Austin Boutain, and his wife, Kathleen Boutain, DOB: 3-17-94, in the death of Mitchell Ingle. Both were arrested in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 31, 2017.
Kathleen Boutain has been charged with 20 counts in the death of Mr. Ingle. Her extradition is pending.
Austin Boutain is being held without bond at the Jefferson County jail.
The filing of a criminal charge is merely a formal accusation that an individual has committed a crime. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. See Colo. RPC 3.6
