[ARCHIVED] Jefferson County Welcomes the BLM to Colorado

The Jefferson County Board of Commissioners, the city of Lakewood and the Jefferson County Economic Development Corporation (Jeffco EDC) applaud the Bureau of Land Management’s decision to relocate its headquarter employees to Lakewood and Grand Junction, Colorado. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) manages public lands and resources for multiple uses, from conservation and wildlife to energy and forestry to recreation and interpretation.

“Jefferson County is honored to welcome the Bureau of Land Management team to Colorado. The transition of the headquarters to Colorado is an excellent example of the pragmatic approach the Bureau of Land Management is taking to manage its resources,” said Jefferson County Commissioner Libby Szabo. “It just makes sense to have the employees near the lands they are managing.”

“Welcome to Lakewood,” pronounced Mayor Adam Paul of the City of Lakewood. “Lakewood has a rich history of working with the U.S. Department of the Interior and Bureau of Land Management - Colorado and we are pleased that they will be entrusting us with more of their talented employees.”

“We are thrilled to welcome our new neighbors from Washington, D.C. to Jefferson County,” said Kristi Pollard, President and CEO for the Jefferson County Economic Development Corp. “Jefferson County is the gateway to the Rocky Mountains and the phenomenal resources that the Bureau of Land Management oversees. We look forward to working with the BLM and helping to make their transition west as smooth as possible.”
