The Jefferson County Board of Commissioners is considering a proposal to ask Jeffco voters to allow the county to keep county taxes, grants and all other revenue that it collects in excess of limits instituted from the Taxpayer Bill of Rights (TABOR) and other applicable state statutes. If approved, the measure would appear on the November 2019 ballot.
Jeffco budget data indicates that the county will need to cut its budget by $16.1 million in the next year to balance the budget and maintain an appropriate reserve fund. To achieve this, the county is requiring budget reductions for 2020 across all offices, departments and divisions whose budget is impacted by the General Fund.
The Board of County Commissioners (BCC) encourages community members to share their opinions on the issue at the July 23 BCC hearing at 8 a.m. The hearings are held in Hearing Room One, located on the first floor of the Jeffco Administration and Courts Facility at 100 Jefferson County Parkway. If you are not able to attend that hearing, please contact the commissioners by end of day on Monday, July 22, to have your comments be part of the record.
