Jefferson County Treasurer Jerry DiTullio was at the Colorado State Capitol on Wednesday, May 29 for the signing of House Bill (HB) 19-1295. This bill moves governor appointed public trustees for Colorado's ten most populous counties into the jurisdiction of the elected county treasurer.
What the bill does:
- Increases accountability to the taxpayers.
- Allows for local control at the county level, rather than the state.
- Eliminates duplication of effort by staff.
- Will save taxpayers money in the long-term.
Thanks to Governor Jared Polis, house sponsors KC Becker and Janice Rich as well as senate sponsors Tammy Story (not pictured) and Ray Scott (not pictured) for supporting this efficient change.
The bill takes effect July 1, 2020. The Jefferson County Treasurer’s Office is moving forward now with a thoughtful and efficient transition. Learn more about HB19-1295.
