The Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office is hosting its 9th Annual Senior Law Day on June 1, offering educational seminars for seniors and for adults who may be facing challenges with aging parents.
This year there will be 24 valuable workshops, including topics on Medicare/Medicaid Issues, Estate Planning, Wills/Trusts, End of Life Issues, Powers-of-Attorney, Probate, Conservatorship and Guardianship, Investment Fraud, and Gun Safety and Regulations. This year, the county commissioners will be presenting at one of the workshops.
Attorneys and representatives from a variety of community resources will be also available to answer individual questions. The “Ask-an-Attorney” feature offers free 15-minute consultations.
Also featured this year is a free drug take-back. This is a great way to dispose of drugs cluttering your medicine cabinets. We cannot take sharps or liquids.
Senior Law Day will be held at the Jefferson County courthouse, 100 Jefferson County Parkway, in Golden, from 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, June 1.
Registration is only $10 and includes a continental breakfast, a mid-morning snack, lunch, and the new Colorado Senior Law Handbook, a publication of the Colorado Bar Association. Payment must made by check or money order. Cash cannot be accepted.
“Our population is aging and older adults will be facing complicated issues. This is a great opportunity for seniors and for any adult who has a parent.” said DA Pete Weir, “This information can change the quality of life for seniors and their adult children.”
