Jemelle Charles Adams, DOB: 2-21-87, appeared in Jefferson County District Court on April 25 where he was sentenced to prison for 25 years for the home invasion robbery of two women while they were staying at a motel in Wheat Ridge.
On November 10, 2017, just before midnight, Wheat Ridge police were called to the American Motel on the 170 Frontage Road on a report of a disturbance and possible gunshots.
Adams and codefendant Jasmine Martinez had knocked at the door to room 504, giving false names and asking to be admitted. The two women inside the room did not know them and refused to open the door. Adams, armed with a handgun, broke through the door and demanded “pills and money”. Jasmine Martinez, entered the room, brandishing a weapon. Both women were assaulted. One of the women was attempting to call 911, and her dog was shot by Adams as he tried to defend her. Adams and Martinez then took items from the room and left.
Adams pled guilty on February 20, 2019 to Aggravated Robbery.
Codefendant Jasmine Nicole Martinez was sentenced on October 31, 2018 to ten years in prison for her role in the offense.
