Felipe Hernandez-Escajeda, DOB: 9-24-88, appeared in Jefferson County Court on April 22, 2019 when he was sentenced to prison for 36 years for kidnapping, burglary, and aggravated robbery of three people in Lakewood.
Just after midnight, on August 8, 2017, Felipe Hernandez-Escajeda and his brother, Octavio Hernandez-Escajeda, went to the home of Octavio’s ex-girlfriend. The drunken brothers went into the house and assaulted her. Octavio cut off some of his ex-girlfriend’s hair with a knife. They moved her, a friend of hers who was at the house, and her friend’s five-year-old child, through the house at knifepoint for the next three hours. Following trial in February, 2019 a Jefferson County jury found Felipe Hernandez-Escajeda guilty of 20 counts, including four counts of Kidnapping and four counts of Burglary.
Octavio Hernandez-Escajeda was sentenced to 44 years in prison on April 19, 2018. He pled guilty to First Degree Burglary; First Degree Assault; and one violent crime count.
