District Attorney Pete Weir announced that charges have been filed in a string of bank robberies in Lakewood and Arvada in February, 2019. Brandon Wayne York, DOB: 7-22-82, was charged with four counts of Robbery (F4) and two counts of Theft, a (F5) and a (PO1). Richard David Perdue, DOB: 11-28-65, was charged with one count of Robbery (F4) and Theft (F5).
Between February 15 and 27, 2019 there were four bank robberies in Lakewood and Arvada. According to the arrest affidavit, in each case a male approached the teller and handed them, or placed on the counter in front of them, a note demanding currency. In each case the teller complied and the male left the bank. In the fourth bank robbery, on February 27, 2019, a second man is alleged to have gone into the bank with the original male. Mr. York is alleged to have committed the four bank robberies and Mr. Perdue is alleged to have been the second male in the bank on February 27.
Lakewood police, working with the FBI Mountain Safe Streets Task Force, arrested Mr. York and Mr. Perdue on February 27, 2019.
According to the affidavit, the total losses to the four banks was over $18,000.
Both men were in court today and were advised of their charges. They each have a preliminary hearing set for March 26 at 3:00. Mr. York is being held at the Jefferson County jail on $100,000 bond. Mr. Perdue is being held on $20,000.
The filing of a criminal charge is merely a formal accusation that an individual has committed a crime. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. See Colo. RPC 3.6
