Jefferson County works to support our community members in many ways. An important need of the Jefferson County community is support for anyone experiencing homelessness. The Everyone Counts Homelessness Survey is a starting point to improve such support.
Starting sundown on January 28 and ending sundown on January 29, volunteers and agencies will mobilize across Jefferson County to conduct the Everyone Counts Homelessness Survey. Community, faith-based, and local government organizations conduct the survey and the data gathered helps provide a snapshot of homelessness. This snapshot allows Jefferson County to better identify the trends and service needs of our community members who are experiencing homelessness.
Jefferson County Human Services is collecting warm winter gloves for the event and invites local organizations to become involved.
“Warm winter gloves are critical to our outreach efforts and will help our neighbors experiencing homelessness keep warm. Local support from our partners is essential and helps to strengthen and improve the community of Jefferson County,” states Mary Berg, Executive Director of Jefferson County Human Services.

More about the Everyone Counts Homelessness Survey:
Everyone Counts is the annual Point in Time Survey led by Metropolitan Denver Homeless Initiative (MDHI) across the seven-county metro Denver region. The Point in Time generates a snapshot of homelessness on a single night, and raises public awareness, promotes collaboration across seven counties, provides needed data, helps us apply for increased housing funds, and reminds the community that Everyone Counts! In 2018, Metro Denver counted 5,317 total people experiencing homelessness, with 1,308 of those people counted staying outside in places like tents, vehicles, parks, or underpasses.
