Two men convicted of a vicious assault in a bar in Pine Junction were in court on January 11, 2019 where they were sentenced. Joel Michael Wilson, DOB: 7-15-86, was sentenced to six years in prison. Devin Lee Premer, DOB: 5-28-94, was sentenced to five years in prison.
On January 25, 2018 Richard Brown, Wilson, and Premer were at the Crossroads Pub in Pine Junction. The men began to engage in a verbal argument and shouting. While Mr. Brown was holding his 4-year-old daughter on his hip, a fight broke out. Wilson and Premer proceeded to brutally beat Brown. One man would hold him while the other inflicted blows with fists, punching him in the head, face, ribs, and face. The child was not injured. The attack against Mr. Brown continued and resulted in serious bodily injury, including a lacerated spleen.
“It is impossible to call this assault a “bar fight” because Mr. Brown never fought back,” said DA Pete Weir, “This was a brutal, one-sided attack by two men that could have stopped at any time.”
Joel Wilson pled guilty on November 30, 2018 to Second Degree Assault (F4) and Reckless Endangerment (M3). Devin Premer pled G on the same day to Second Degree Assault (F4) and Child Abuse (M2)
