Reginald Keith Clark, DOB; 1-1-74, appeared in Gilpin County Court on January 11, 2019 where he was sentenced to prison for 30 years for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 56-year-old homeless woman in Black Hawk.
On November 5, 2017 Clark offered a ride to the victim who was walking from a woman’s shelter to a bus stop in Denver. Because she recognized a passenger in Clark’s car, the woman agreed to let him drive her to her storage locker at 84th and Pecos. Along the way, Clark stopped and let the other passenger out. When the victim realized that Clark was not driving to the storage locker she confronted him. He stopped in a park in Denver and told her to perform oral sex on him. He showed her a knife and told her he had a gun, threatening to kill her. She refused. Clark began driving again, this time westbound on I70 to Gilpin County. The woman asked repeatedly to be released and she tried to disable the car, but was unsuccessful.
When Clark arrived in unincorporated Gilpin County he drove up a dirt road, Smith Hill Road, where he parked the car. He forced the woman into the back seat, sexually assaulted her as she struggled to break free. Clark then drove to and through Black Hawk, stopping two more times. At the final stop, on Miners Mesa, Clark got out of the car. He was out of the victim’s sight long enough for her to escape. A passerby saw her on the side of the road and called police. Clark was contacted and arrested.
A jury found him guilty of Kidnapping (F2) and Sexual Assault – threat of harm (F3) on October 15, 2019. Clark has three prior felony convictions.
