Every year on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, the community joins together to do something great – create forever families.
On Saturday, November 17th, Jefferson County will celebrate National Adoption Day by finalizing adoptions of 12 children into 10 families. Many of these children have been waiting for years in foster care.
National Adoption Day is a collective effort to raise awareness of the more than 110,000 children waiting in foster care. A day when communities across the country finalize adoptions, and celebrate adoptive families.
Jefferson County Human Services assists families interested in adoption or foster care throughout the year, and while adoptions are finalized all year-long, National Adoption Day is an opportunity for families to celebrate. Human Services helps finalize adoptions of about 100 children in any given year. These families are celebrated for providing a permanent, stable, loving home for children who would otherwise still be waiting in foster care.
The adoptions will take place at the Jefferson County Courthouse, 100 Jefferson County Parkway in Golden. Come help celebrate and learn more about the positive impact adoption has on our community. Certain families will be available for interviews and photographs prior to the event yet we hope you will join us to celebrate the local families who are celebrating this life-changing milestone.
