First Judicial District Attorney Pete Weir announced today that charges have been filed in the death of 25-year-old Angela Wimmer. Todd Kenneth Grudznske, DOB: 8-17-71, has been charged with fifteen counts, including First Degree Murder – Extreme Indifference.
On September 30, 2018 Lakewood Police agents were called to the intersection of West Colfax Avenue and Kipling Street on September 30 to investigate a five-car traffic collision. According to the affidavit, Angela Wimmer, driving a gray Mazda, was sitting stopped at a red light on southbound Kipling at Colfax when a GMC truck, driven by Grudznske, failed to stop at the light and rear-ended the Mazda at a high rate of speed. There was eastbound traffic on Colfax and three additional vehicles were also involved in the collision.
Angela was transported to a hospital where she died of her injuries.
Grudznske appeared in Jefferson County District Court today where he was advised that he had been charged with the following:
- First Degree Murder – Extreme Indifference (F1)
- 3 counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder (F2)
- Vehicular Homicide – DUI (3)
- First Degree Assault (F3)
- 3 counts of Attempted First Degree Assault (F4)
- Vehicular Homicide – Reckless (F4)
- DUI 4th or Subsequent (F4)
- Violation of a Protection Order (M)
- Reckless Driving (T2)
- Two Crime of Violence counts
Grudznske is being held without bond at the Jefferson County jail. His preliminary hearing has been set for November 1 at 10:00.
The filing of a criminal charge is merely a formal accusation that an individual has committed a crime(s). A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. See Colo. RPC 3.6.
