First Judicial District Attorney Pete Weir announced that charges have been filed against Joshua Kamuela Akuila Kane, DOB; 12-3-86, in the death of his roomate, 23-year-old Nicole Lindsey. Mr. Kane has been charged with First Degree Murder – After Deliberation and two crime of violence counts.
On July 29, at 2:21 p.m., Wheat Ridge Police were called to 8776 W. 46th Avenue on a report of a male bleeding and a deceased female. According to the arrest affidavit, the 911 call was made by Kane. Police found Nicole Lindsey deceased in the bedroom of residence. She appeared to have a cut across her neck and her abdomen.
Kane was transported to the hospital for medical issues.
Mr. Kane is scheduled to appear on August 6 at 3:00 in Division 12 of the Jefferson County District Court. He is being held without bond at the Jefferson County jail.
The filing of a criminal charge is merely a formal accusation that an individual has committed a crime(s). A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. See Colo. RPC 3.6.
