Road improvements to McIntyre Street between West 56th Place and West 58th Avenue begin Wednesday, July 11 and will continue through the fall of 2019. Motorists should expect intermittent traffic stops and alternating lane closures for equipment access and construction adjacent to the roadway. Most lane closures will be limited to off-peak hours (8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.). Occasional night and weekend work is expected.
Jefferson County and SEMA Construction will construct an additional travel lane in each direction with on-street bike lanes, turn lanes and a center median. The new configuration is part of the continuous, four-lane corridor planned between West 52nd Avenue and West 60th Avenue. The roadway profile will be raised approximately five feet near Van Bibber Creek to accommodate a new shared use path under McIntyre Street. Other project improvements include:
- Constructing a new bridge over Van Bibber Creek
- Building two box culverts at the Farmers Highline Canal crossings
- Placing new curb, gutter and detached sidewalk
For several months, crews will mostly work along the west side McIntyre Street to construct half of the new bridge over Van Bibber Creek and the west sides of both box culverts. Extended lane closures or a brief full-closure may be necessary to construct a new sanitary sewer line underneath McIntyre Street. The latest traffic impact information will be posted on the project website and on message boards along the corridor. The project is weather-dependent and the schedule is subject to change.
This $7-million road improvement project will complete a portion of the planned improvements for McIntyre Street. This phase addresses the section between West 56th Place and West 58th Avenue. The first phase of widening between West 44th Avenue and West 54th Avenue was completed in 2016. Two additional phases are planned from West 58th Avenue to West 60th Avenue and from West 52nd Avenue to West 54th Avenue.
