Starting Friday June 15, 2018, Jefferson County Open Space parks will be under a fire ban. The following activities and items are not permitted during this Jeffco Open Space fire ban:

  • No campfires
  • No charcoal grills or open flames
  • No smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle or a developed trailhead area that is devoid of all vegetation. Visitors must safely and properly dispose of all cigarette butts.

Only devices that are liquid fueled or gas fueled including gas grills and gas stoves are allowed. These devices should only be used in developed areas including picnic areas, campsites and trailheads that are completely cleared of vegetation for at least a six-foot diameter. Visitors are reminded not to use gas grills or stoves in tall grass.

Jeffco Open Space appreciates visitor compliance of this important measure for natural resource protection and encourages visitors to be fire-wise this summer.

Jeffco Open Space was founded as a land conservation organization in 1972.
