[ARCHIVED] Hiwan Museum Celebrates 100 Years of Historic Architecture

Hiwan Museum Exterior

The Hiwan Museum has been a historic staple in Evergreen, Colorado for as long as many community members can remember. This June marks the 100th anniversary of the 1918 completion of the main building of Hiwan Museum, which was previously known as Camp Neosho. To celebrate this milestone, the Hiwan Museum invites the community to attend a free festival in Hiwan Heritage Park and will debut a new exhibit in the Museum. The exhibit, The Hand-Built Home: A Century of Camp Neosho, will explore the early history and construction of Camp Neosho at Hiwan Museum.

Saturday June 23, 2018, 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

28473 Meadow Dr. Evergreen, CO 80439

This event features live music, woodworking demonstrations, live bird displays by Nature’s Educators, and other family-friendly activities. Food trucks currently scheduled include Peak Pops, Wheels on Fire, and California Wrap Runners, with brews from Evergreen Brewery. Musical performances from Rex Rideout, Evergreen Players, and Chris Doyle will add to the festivities.

Celebrate history with the community and other local organizations including Evergreen Mountain Area Historical Society, the Center for the Arts Evergreen, Evergreen Nature Center, Evergreen Library, CSU Extension Jefferson County, and Jefferson County Fairgrounds.

The Hiwan Museum will be open and offering tours for the duration of the festival.
