Jefferson County and the Facilities team were recently recognized by the State of Colorado and Compact of Colorado Communities at the Colorado Communities Awards Dinner. We are thrilled to have received an award based on our demonstrated leadership in clean energy.
Jefferson County was one of eight honorees, and all the honored programs enable Colorado communities to achieve important clean energy and climate preparedness goals.
These awards recognize innovative programs and initiatives in the public and private sectors that demonstrate a bold vision for a clean, resilient and prosperous Colorado. Jefferson County was honored with a Colorado Communities Award for our performance contracting efforts with McKinstry.
Following a Technical Energy Audit of several county-owned buildings and an evaluation of several locations for solar photovoltaics, solar thermal and wind generation, the county entered into Performance Contracts with McKinstry.
Following the evaluation, both Facilities/Construction Management and the Sheriff’s Office Building Maintenance crew implemented several facility improvement measures, including lighting upgrades, water savings measures, HVAC improvements, installation of photovoltaic systems at several sites AND solar thermal for the Sheriff Detention Center.
Through their efforts, the county is expecting to save approximately $477,780/annually on the county side and $196,670/annually for the Sheriff’s Office.
Congratulations to both teams and thank you to McKinstry for their efforts in assisting the county.
