The District Attorney’s Office has formally filed charges against David Charles Roberts, DOB: 4-3-87, following an alleged attack against his girlfriend and two others at his house in unincorporated Jefferson County on December 27, 2017.
According to the arrest affidavit, Roberts, his girlfriend Heather Myers, and another couple had gone out to a bar earlier in the evening. At approximately midnight they went to the house where Roberts’ and Myers rented a room, at 29196 Pine Road, Evergreen. A short time later, Roberts became “belligerent” with Myers and began assaulting her. The male friend intervened and there was a struggle. Roberts got a fireplace poker, and then a knife, and began assaulting Myers and the other two people. The couple ran from the house and called 911.
Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies arrived just before 1:00 a.m. Mr. Roberts refused to come out of the house, forcing deputies to call SWAT officers to the scene. The situation ended without injury or loss of life nine hours later.

Mr. Roberts appeared in Jefferson County Court today where he was advised of the charges against him. He is being held on $250,000 bond. He has until January 11th to schedule a preliminary hearing.
The filing of a criminal charge is merely a formal accusation that an individual has committed a crime(s). A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. See Colo. RPC 3.6
