[ARCHIVED] Jefferson County Wellness Team Wins Two Prestigious Awards

Jefferson County’s Human Resources Wellness Team recently earned two prestigious awards, one from UnitedHealthcare and one from the American Heart Association.

In August, Jefferson County was one of the 10 organizations across the U.S. awarded with a UnitedHealthcare “Well Deserved” award for its year-long wellness program. Jefferson County also received the “Golden Apple” award for earning this distinction two years in a row.

At the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners' hearing on August 8, United Healthcare representatives presented an award to Commissioners Libby Szabo, Casey Tighe and Donald Rosier to highlight the outstanding wellness program at the county.

In November, the Wellness Team was recognized again, this time with bronze level recognition in the American Heart Association’s Workplace Health Achievement Index. The American Heart Association created the Index with its CEO Roundtable members – a leadership collaborative of more than 30 CEOs from some of America’s largest companies who are committed to applying evidence-based approaches to improve their employees’ overall health. The Wellness Team was recognized for this award by the BCC at its November 14 hearing.

Golden Apple Award 2017JPGWe are proud that Jefferson County has more than 40 Wellness Champions who volunteer their time to create a culture of wellness. Human Resources and the Wellness Champions promote activities such as farmers’ markets, meditation and stress reduction classes, healthy cooking classes and the use of standing desks. There is even a Treadmill Desk Pilot Program.

Thanks to the HR team and all of the county’s Wellness Champions for their work to promote health and well-being for all of our employees!
