At
9:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 10th, a male suspect later
identified as Edward Roy Barron, (dob 031986), entered the CVS Pharmacy at 9936
W. Bowles Ave. and robbed the pharmacy of narcotics at gunpoint. He was seen
leaving in a red Nissan sedan with Florida plates on them. It was soon learned
that Barron had carjacked that car sometime after 4:00 a.m. in Lakewood.
At
11:00 a.m., Barron entered the Bank of the West at 8184 S. Kipling Parkway and
robbed the bank at gunpoint. He fled in the Nissan to a nearby
neighborhood where he abandoned the car.
At
11:30, Barron committed a home invasion on the 8000 block of Trinchera Peak,
which is in the area where he abandoned the car. He attempted to steal a car
from the residence, but was unsuccessful and left the house on foot. He was
contacted by deputies about a block away. As deputies approached him, Barron
began consuming the narcotics stolen at the pharmacy. He was transported to the
hospital due to the ingestion of the narcotics.
On
December10th, Barron was released from the hospital and booked into the
Jefferson County Jail on charges of first degree kidnapping, aggravated
robbery, first degree burglary and menacing. Additional charges are pending. He
is being held on a bond of $1,000,000.
In
all of the incidents, no shots were fired by Barron and no one was injured.
Locating and arresting Barron was the result of
partnership with several agencies to include the Lakewood Police Department,
Colorado State Patrol, West Metro Fire and Rangers from Colorado Parks and
Wildlife.
