Insurance coverage for these families could end on January 31, 2018. For nearly two decades this essential program has served certain families - those unable to afford private market health care, and yet who earn too much money to qualify for Medicaid.

While there are no immediate changes to CHP+ regarding eligibility, enrollment, renewals or benefits, the continued existence of the program is in danger unless Congress renews funding.  Aware of the precipice these families are perched on, the State of Colorado’s Department of Health Care Policy and Financing sent letters advising these families to start researching other insurance options, available at Connect for Health Colorado.

Currently, CHP+ applications and redeterminations are being processed. CHP+ members are also urged to continue to use their benefits and access this important care. It remains vital that families research other health coverage options, starting now.

The State of Colorado spends about $185 million per year on CHP+ and 90% of that funding comes from federal funds provided to the state.

To determine if you are eligible, or apply for benefits, please visit Colorado PEAK or Connect for Health Colorado. To research other coverage options for your unborn child or your family please visit Connect for Health Colorado. To follow future news and information about this program, the Department of Health Care Policy and Financing has set up a special webpage, the Future of Child Health Plan Plus.
