On Nov. 26, 1977, Craig Kadow was reported missing. He had been temporarily separated from his wife and was living alone in a cabin he was helping to finish in the Brook Forest Estates area. He last spoke to his mother in Wisconsin by telephone at about 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19, 1977. Numerous items belonging to Kadow were discovered missing from his residence. He was known to have been selling marijuana, hashish and cocaine in the Denver metro area.
On Nov. 15, 1978, Kadow's body was discovered off Highway 285 near the Stage Stop Campground at Windy Point. He had been shot with a small-caliber firearm.
In 2010, investigators identified two persons involved in the murder; however, both are deceased.
