On July 2, 1979, at about 9:30 p.m., drivers along West 64th Avenue, about one-half mile west of Easley, found a man's body in the road. The body was identified as 27-year-old John Lilly, who had died of gunshot wounds. Lilly, who was known to sell drugs, had left his mother's home in Greeley early that morning in his two-door, gray Mercedes. The car was left along the road near Lilly's body. He was wearing blue jeans and a blue T-shirt.
