On February 22, 1995, the body of Eugene Lucero, DOB 11/23/1945 was found in the White Ranch Open Space Park west of Golden, Colorado. Eugene was a Metro Taxi Cab driver and picked up a passenger at the Sapp Brother’s Truck Stop at I-70 and Quebec Street in Denver between the hours of 3:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. The passenger had called for a cab and stated that he needed a ride west of Denver. At 6:50 a.m., the body of Eugene was found in the parking lot of the park and his taxi cab was gone.
Later that same day, Eugene’s taxi cab was found in Denver at 54th and Harrison abandoned. The passenger that Eugene picked up is described as a white adult male, 5’10” to 6’00”, 170 to 200 pounds and had dark brown hair and side burns. He was last seen that day wearing a camouflage coat, jeans, boots, and possibly a vest. He also carried a bright colored nylon bag with a dark strap and told the operator of the taxi company that his name was Jim Davis.
