On June 10, 1991, Luanne Ryman had pulled her vehicle over at the Genesee exit on Interstate 70 to sleep when she was too tired to drive to her residence in New Castle, Colorado. As Luanne slept, someone shot her in the face with a shotgun. Luanne was able to make it out of her vehicle and was found by Sheriff Deputies a distance away covered in blood. Luanne was taken to the hospital and survived her injuries after numerous pellets were removed from her head.
