Man drowns in the Platte River

OnSaturday, July 22, 2017 at 3:00 p.m., a man drowned in the Platte River. The43-year-old Castle Rock resident, whose identity is being withheld pendingnotification of family, was tubing near the Platte River Campground with hisfiancée and friends.  

Acamper saw the man in the river without histube float into an area near the bank with bushes and tall grass and then comeout of that area face-down. Several people immediately pulled him out and beganCPR. He was airlifted to St. Anthony hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
