JeffCo Partners with Business Owners to Combat Counterfeiters

counterfeit training

In 2015, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office investigated 21 reports of fraud involving counterfeit money. In 2016 that number rose to 71 and so far this year, we have had 12 cases reported. Due to this increase in the use of counterfeit money, JCSO is partnering with Southwest Plaza Mall to offer business owners a free training on March 1, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. in the Southwest Plaza food court. Business owners and managers are invited to learn how to identify counterfeit money, how to respond if fake money is presented for a purchase, and how to help investigators identify people in possession of counterfeit cash. Interested business owners and managers may call (720) 497-7231 or email [email protected] to RSVP or for more information.
