[ARCHIVED] Grant Applications Open for Youth Activities in Jeffco

Empower Field with logos for Jefferson County and the Metropolitan Football Stadium logos

The June 2022 sale of the Denver Broncos opened opportunities for Jefferson County to invest in youth activities. With the sale, $41 million was distributed to the municipalities, cities, and counties that contributed to the stadium district tax, which was used to fund construction of the Broncos' stadium in 2001.

In September 2022, representatives from the Metropolitan Football Stadium District (MFSD) presented a check for $1.1 million to the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners. MFSD members were entitled to one-time payments with the sale of the Denver Broncos franchise. The MFSD Act and stadium lease agreement stipulates that the payment be used for “youth activity programs.”

The Jeffco Board of County Commissioners has earmarked funds for various youth-focused initiatives:

  • Jeffco Youth Partnership Program (JYPP) External Partners
  • Dolly Parton Imagination Library
  • Transitional Housing/Supports for Youth in Foster Care
  • Jeffco Library (Young Author Program)
  • Scholarship Program through Jeffco Open Space Foundation Trust
  • Public Health Youth Task Force
  • Job Training for At Risk Youth
  • Inclusive & Accessible Playgrounds at Edgewater Elementary School and Beaver Ranch

Youth Activity Grant Applications:

Jefferson County set aside nearly $285,000 for external partners, and we want you to get involved. If you have a project or initiative that can benefit our community's youth, we're ready to support you! Please complete the funding application by Jan. 15, 2024. Questions? Send an email to county staff.
