Give Back to Those in Need with Jeffco's Giving Tree Program

Giving tree with date to return gifts (Dec. 4)

Adorned with approximately 300 tags, Jefferson County's annual holiday tree will be up in the atrium of the Administration and Courts Facility, 100 Jefferson County Parkway in Golden, beginning Nov. 20. The tree, also known as the Giving Tree, will continue the tradition of including gift tags with holiday gift wishes from some of Jeffco's less fortunate children. Clients from CASA, Jeffco’s Head Start program and the Jeffco Prosperity Partners will be the recipients of the generosity of Jeffco employees and citizens through this program sponsored by the Commissioners.

If you are able, please pick a tag or two off our tree and join others in helping a child have a brighter holiday season. Gifts do not need to be large or fancy; in fact, some of these children are only asking for a winter coat or bed sheets. Be sure to return new unwrapped gifts, with the tag attached to the commissioners’ office no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 4. If you take a tag but are not able to purchase a gift, please return the tag to the tree as soon as possible so that no child is left without a gift.

Important Dates:

  • Monday, Nov. 20 – Tags will be available on the tree in the atrium
  • Monday, Dec. 4 – Deadline to return, unwrapped gifts to the commissioners’ office (5th floor)

Donated gifts will benefit the children served by these local programs:

  • CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) - The CASA volunteers serve as independent investigators and advocates for abused and neglected children in Jefferson and Gilpin Counties. Children with a CASA volunteer are half as likely to spend time in long-term foster care.
  • Jefferson County Head Start – A no-cost, comprehensive, child-focused and family-centered preschool program for children ages three to five. A range of individualized services are provided to eligible families who are at the 100 percent poverty level.
  • Jeffco Prosperity Partners (JPP) – a collaboration of community, school, business, and county partners working together to help Jefferson County families break the cycle of generational poverty. JPP works to ensure children from low-income homes graduate on time and have access to post-secondary opportunities.

Call 303-271-8505 with any questions about the Giving Tree.
