Applications are currently available for the 2017 Jeffco Open Space Trail Stewardship Team (TST) for Jefferson County youth ages 14-18 years. This program provides wages of $9.30 per hour. The applications are available online through April 10, 2017.
The Trail Stewardship Team was created in 1975 to provide youth with summer employment opportunities in seasonal trail maintenance and construction. The work is challenging and physically demanding.
Applicants will need a social security number and a letter of reference from an adult other than a parent or guardian to complete the online application by the April 10 deadline.
Eligible youths must be 14 to 18 years of age and a Jefferson County resident on June 6, 2017.
Participants will be selected based on their application, letter of reference, interview, applicable experience, and availability to work all seven weeks with no more than two absences from June 13 to July 27, 2017.
Successful applicants will attend a mandatory orientation on June 6, 6:30 p.m., at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds.
Work is scheduled Tuesday through Thursday, from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. and the program begins on Tuesday, June 13 and concludes on Thursday, July 27, 2017.
Candidates must provide their documentation of citizenship, be in good health, are responsible for their own transportation to and from the Jeffco Open Space facilities each workday, be punctual, be prepared with appropriate gear daily and be able to follow verbal direction. The work is hard and demanding, but it can be fun and enjoyable, too. Each TST laborer can expect to cover 200 miles in eight weeks by hiking to and from job sites for trail maintenance.
