[ARCHIVED] Fuelwood Sale Expected Winter of 2017

Jeffco Open Space often has fuelwood to sell to the public at the end of the summer. This wood comes from forestry projects including removing dead or diseased trees or thinning for forest health. Harvested wood is first used for structures within Open Space parks such as picnic shelters, picnic tables, buck-and-rail fences, or other projects. Any wood in excess is then made available to the public.

This year, Jeffco Open Space is facilitating work with the Coalition of the Upper South Platte and the Upper South Platte Partnership on approximately 40 acres of forestry work at Conifer’s Community Park at Beaver Ranch. The wood from this forestry work will be available for sale as fuelwood in November or December 2017. Those interested should be aware that the wood will be very green, heavy, and sap-laden and will not be ready to burn this winter. The amount of wood will be more than in past years, allowing it to be sold over several weekends.

Jeffco Open Space will announce when the fuelwood is available and ready for sale later in the year.

Jeffco Open Space was founded as a land conservation organization in 1972.
