The Jefferson County Sustainability Awards are held annually to acknowledge and celebrate environmental stewardship and sustainability efforts made by organizations, employees, students, and residents in Jefferson County. Community members are encouraged to submit nominations by April 26. Winners will be announced at the Board of County Commissioners May 16 public meeting.
“The Jefferson County Board of Commissioners is excited to announce the Sustainability Commission’s 2023 Sustainability Award winners on May 16,” Jefferson County Commissioner Andy Kerr said. “We appreciate the people and businesses that are prioritizing sustainability in Jefferson County. By recognizing outstanding sustainability efforts, we hope to motivate our community to follow the lead of the award winners. We thank all of the amazing people in our community who are helping to address climate change by implementing sustainable practices, both at work and at home.”
The Sustainability Awards are spearheaded by the Jefferson County Sustainability Commission. This commission is comprised of Jefferson County residents who volunteer to help advance sustainability efforts across the county. Learn about the Sustainability Commission.
To be considered, Sustainability Award nominees must live, work or study in Jefferson County. The sustainability efforts of nominees must align with the Mission, Vision, and Values for Jefferson County set forth by the Board of County Commissioners.
